It’s beginning to look at lot like Christmas and Macy’s is teaming up once again this year with Make-A-Wish to spread holiday cheer to children who need it most.
Macy’s “Believe” campaign, which has raised $6.5 million for Make-A-Wish over the past five years, draws its inspiration from the true story of an 8-year-old girl named Virginia who wrote a letter in 1897 to the editor of the New York Sun newspaper asking if Santa exists. That letter, and its response, inspired hope in both the heart of Virginia and every child, who simply needed someone to believe in.
As part of its sixth annual Macy’s “Believe” campaign, Macy’s is inviting all those across the country who are young at heart to believe by dropping off a letter addressed to Santa at their local Macys “Believe meter.” For each letter received by Christmas Eve, Macy’s will donate $1 to Make-A-Wish (up to $1 million,) to help grant wishes for children who have life-threatening diseases.
To those of you, young and old, Macy’s and I invite you to ask yourself this one simple question…Do you believe?
I know I do.
